MS has an Office Compatibility Pack that is supposed to allow this functionality but it isn't working. If that gives you a usable file, then you should just make sure that all your Windows, Office, and Compatibility Pack items have the latest updates and you should be fine. Microsoft Office 2007 provides a lot of new features and functionality, but what about compatibility?

Microsoft provides a plugin for the old version that lets it open newer docs. Some features can be returned to the document if you reopen it in an Office 2007 program; others can't. When i log off and log on as a limited user i can open all office 2007 documents except excel. Are you looking for the solution to your computer problem?
