Linksys Wrt54g Wireless Not Working Wired Is Fine

that did it!!! I thought I knew the password/key because linksys won't tell you that it is wrong, it will show full signal strength but no connectivity. Id like to have a good signal everywhere but Id like my HTC and Ipod to get WIFI connection without signal dropping after one second? So your router disguises itself as your computer. (Somehow on the Cable ISP end it would seem they are able to tell the difference between a computer's and a router's MAC

Couldn't sign you in, please try again. Any Ideas? I've turned it on and off a couple times to no avail.Google has found me similar problems, but no solutions. Yes, my password is: Forgot your password?

Also, I am using openDNS with this router since Charter reroutes Google searches and using openDNS solves that problem. If there's absolutely no signal.. the problem with the one in the philippines is the wifi signal disappears after a couple of hours. I tried to run the Linksys setup disk again after reverting the router to factory defaults and resetting it, and the setup program failed to communicate with the router.

Chances are that the router will fail to connect to the internet. If getting Valid Ip .... It ran the disk but kept saying that it couldn't communicate with the router, and would not go any further. No wonder it doesn't work!

Comcast was NO help. 3 calls! Can you please help me. the next probelm is I can't access all my mail. Report Ale- Jul 6, 2010 09:16PM Thank you.

Maybe your wireless connection is only kinda working because McAfee is not all gone. It's hooked up to a port on the router via LAN cable. Now what should I do? Ethernet is fine.

Report dee- Jul 3, 2009 03:58PM BLESS YOU!!! And hours of troubleshooting showed us that suddenly, none of our routers (Actiontech MI424, D-Link DI-624) or hubs (Linksys 10/100 5-port, 10 port switches) would not work. its like it just wont emit a signal anymore and the linksys guy would not believe me and would not really help me at all. Am told cos they require G/B routers only? Wired side okay and no wireless. this morning it lost signal and i have not been able to get it back. Windows XP, not Vista is installed.

Should I try this or just call linksys?? Report Ace- Jul 15, 2010 05:47PM I have worked with this router for 4 hours and you fixed my problem in a matter of minutes. I've already rigged a heatsink onto the hottest chip on the router's PCB and also over a really hot voltage regulator, and I've rigged an 80mm fan over it. Check This Out I currently use it as a node in WDS.

Could this be a VISTA problem? Anyway, thanks. We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting.

black1, Oct 23, 2005 #3 vincentfox Network Guru Member Ditto. My wireless finally works which allows me to work from home! I did a search on this forum and found a few other users with the exact same problem as me but no one was able to answer them. No go.

So I was dealing with system issues as well and I'm still not quite sure how I accomplished it, but I'm wireless at last! they are actually going to make you pay extra for another one that might have the same problems. I paid Comcast over $5,000 to bring Comcast out to my house, because I live in a very remote area. this contact form Our WRT54G here occasionally forgets all its settings and we have to reconfigure it from scratch (now I know why they put in the configuration backup feature).

I don't want to reset the whole router security because then I'll be unable for a time to access the web from my computers -- which I need. Some have failed after working for a time, others were obtained used and probably didn't work when I got them; while others were defective--brand new--right out of the box...various brands and But, I cant find the name "Linksys" or "Cisco" under the Add/Remove Programs menu!! black1, Oct 23, 2005 #5 drusoicy Network Guru Member Wow - the exact same thing happened to me last night.

works perfect after using your method for 2 minutes!!!! Installing ddwrt cleared it right up and made this router into a decent piece of midrange equipment at rock bottom price. Thanks.
