I tried the external drive on my bride's macbook pro 15 and it works with no problem, so I know that drive works. The report that was displayed in Disk Utility after I had run Repair Permissions indicated some corrected permissions in iTunes, so that raised my hopes. I am amazed.

How do you do this? Usually they're data discs as my old man insists on sending me movies as AVI files. I don't see the point of checking something that almost always has something to fix. What I will say is that the DVD drive is not protected very well at all.
