neither have i found a simple way of reinstalling spotlight (since i wouldn't want to reinstall os x upt to 10.4.11 all over again). After doing the spotlight option it did not seem to be reindexing it was still working? Have you tried the Spotlight reindexing? Which is totally useless for me.
