This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc. This appeared to be because doing the download again overwrote the specific Bootcamp files (version 5.1.5640) for my iMAC. Maybe installing Bootcamp 5 first and uninstalling might have screwed things up? Follow up after receiving answers!

the only thing i can think of is that xp isn't loading the driver needed for the keyboard. Unfortunately, it doesn't work.
